(More customer reviews)This tent has a very nice design, and is very light. It stands strong in moderate winds and rain. I would have rated it 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the seams that are not taped or factory sealed.For a tent in this price range I would have expected a tent ready to use out of the box.
I use it mostly in sea kayak trips, along with a Golite Hex 3.

Big Agnes Pine Island 4 - Four Person Tent Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a quality 4 person tent to use for car camping with my wife and two small kids & the occasional backpacking excursion.After many hours of research I chose the Pine Island 4 and I am not disappointed.Setup is really quick & easy using the hub/pole frame design and color coded grommets.Practice setting it up once or twice and you won't need the instructions anymore.The quality & workmanship of the tent are good and live up to Big Agnes' reputation for quality gear.The main body is largely mesh & is perfect for mild temperatures and good weather.I used it overnight in the 60's without the fly and it was great.The rain fly provides great coverage & sits a few inches away from the tent all over so condensation has not been an issue.There is ample vestibule space provided by the fly and it indeed kept me & my son dry on a rainy night.I got a few drops of water in one spot during an extended night of rain but I haven't sealed the seams myself, so I was happy with the protection off the shelf.The door and fly zippers work well & everything just says "quality."Overall I love this tent-it strikes the perfect balance of weight, size, and quality for me.Two caveats - one man's "4 person tent" is another man's "2 person tent," so know your square footage needs before buying any tent!This will work nicely for my wife, myself, and our 2 young kids but I wouldn't want to spend a night with 3 other grownups in the tent.Also, I wouldn't use this without a footprint so plan to buy one, or even better make one (I bought a $6 tarp at Lowe's and made my own really easily).Overall highly recommended if it suits your needs.

(More customer reviews)First off, let me tell you I'm a Boy Scout, and I used this on a recent campout. That campout was not your ordinary campout, it rained 2 to 3 inches during that time, which is not very ordinary. However, I was in this tent, and it stayed remarkably dry while other campers had an inch or so of water in their tent.
While we were setting up our tents, it started raining. But, because this tent is so easy and fast to set up, I had it set up before a drop of rain had fallen in it.
I stored my gear in the porch (there's some other fancy name for it, but whatever), and it also stayed really dry.
Speaking of gear, I stowed a bunch of it in a handy little pocket in the head of the tent, which I really turned out loving.
My favorite part about this tent is that the rainfly is an inch or so away from the mesh in some places, so the condensation would stick on the rainfly instead of on the walls of my tent like in my other tent, a mammoth 3 man.
The only thing I don't like about this tent is that you really can't move in and out of it at lighting speeds like in an average 2 to 3 man dome tent, as with this tent you have to go throught the rainfly and the mesh.
Another nice thing about this tent is that when I pack it its bag, there's still room for my ground cloth! Hooray! I love that. However, I did have to make my own ground cloth. That was easy, though.
Since I've bought this tent, they've renamed it, which makes no sense; the old name was better.
Anyywayyy, this is the best tent I've ever had!
