(More customer reviews)We bought this to take with us to the beach to shade our 8 month old baby. I also wanted a discrete place to nurse her as well.
I set it up at home first to see how difficult it would be - it was really easy - just three poles used and its up! It was very roomy.
Definately a bit more difficult at the beach to do it, but that's factoring the wind and sand. Still quite easy though.
It was very cool inside, however, not when the front is zipped up (which I tried when I needed to feed the baby) --- it got very hot with the front closed up. But it still offered alot of privacy, even with the front part opened up.

It folds up smaller than one of those packageable lounge chairs, very light, and I know its going to be something we use for many years.

The metal supports have ripped through the nylon.I am very disappointed and would not buy this product again.I'm now trying to sew the nylon back around the supports, because the price in shipping is too much for me to consider returning.

(More customer reviews)The tent was excellent. I was able to fit 4 people comfortably and keep our beach gear in the back of the tent. It kept us cool. Those who wanted to get a little more sun stayed at the outer-edge and at the front of the tent. We got enough breeze through the air-vents. It was no problem to keep clean and maintain. It was easy to assemble, and easy to pack-away. The sand pockets helped a lot, and I had no issues with the tent flying/moving away. Great product!

(More customer reviews)We ordered this cabana because we wanted something to protect our 1 year old from the sun at the beach, with more coverage than an umbrella.We've used this once at the beach so far, and it seems to do the job pretty well.It's pretty easy to set up, though not as easy as the pop-up versions -- but those usually cost significantly more.It's very lightweight, too.My husband, my baby, and I fit comfortably under the shade in sitting positions, and could stretch out with our legs sticking out, too, with minimal sun exposure.

Some criticisms: 1) I think they should include two more stakes for the "door" so you can secure it in the down position.2) It would be better if there were some smaller "windows" higher up, other than the rear window/door.The way it is now, you only get air flow by opening the rear window/door, and in certain conditions, this would significantly reduce your shade area in the cabana.3) When at the beach, it's a little tough to fold up the fabric properly without trapping sand in it.Beaches are usually fairly breezy, and if you try to fold it from being flattened on the ground (as is the proper way), the flapping fabric and blowing sand is quite annoying.

In short, if you don't want to spend twice as much money for the pop-up, spring type, then this should suit you just fine.

(More customer reviews)i ordered this item and immediatlty requested to know if it was in stock or back order like every other site out there. even thoguht amazon claimed it was in stock and would ship in a few days. after i placed the order the ship date changed dramatically. and it was too late.I tried to contact the vendor for status and no one responded. i tried to cancel my order several times and was not allowed as it was not direct from amazon. i was told i needed the vendor to cancel it.itried over and over, no one responded, no one confirmed the order...i do not trust this vendor and would never order again. to this day i have not heard back. i took a chance and ordered from someone who i checked with to make sure it was in stock after 2 weeks of not hearing back from anyone and it was sent out the same day. do not order from them. i like the item once i received from someone is stock.

ABO Gear Instent Shelter Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Abo Gear Instent as a beach shelter for our infant daughter.Its first use at the beach in cool spring weather went well.The Instent was fast to set up and take down.Our baby enjoyed exploring the tent and soon fell asleep.Not much room though for adults to sit comfortably and the ceiling height prevents use of chairs.

Our second experience with the Instent was very different.At the beach on a sunny day in June, the Instent got very hot inside despite a normal ocean breeze and the windows open.Baby was sweating and crying so we took her out.During this time, one of the corner poles kept collapsing and I had to push it back into its socket.None of the other shelters on the beach seemed to be having problems.On take down, one of the plastic poles (maybe the same one) broke from its socket and tore into the fabric of the tent, rendering our Instent useless.

I contacted Abo Gear, and despite a quick response and a promise of, "We'll take care of the problem", I have not received a replacement or a status in sixty days.I contacted Abo Gear again and they responded with questions about the weather on the day it broke.It seems Abo Gear is looking for a way out of honoring their warranty.

On a recent Instent-less trip to the beach, a friend purchased a Lil' Nursery tent for us.It is smaller, cheaper and better ventilated than the Instent and worked fine on the beach in the July sun, though it does require a few minutes to set up.I wish I had bought this first and saved eighty bucks on the Instent.Since Abo Gear customer service never came through for me, I don't know whether I had a lemon Instent or whether there are major quality problems with this product.Based on my experience with Abo Gear and the tent's performance, I give them both the lowest rating.If by chance I receive a replacement, I will update this review.
