(More customer reviews)We bought this to take with us to the beach to shade our 8 month old baby. I also wanted a discrete place to nurse her as well.
I set it up at home first to see how difficult it would be - it was really easy - just three poles used and its up! It was very roomy.
Definately a bit more difficult at the beach to do it, but that's factoring the wind and sand. Still quite easy though.
It was very cool inside, however, not when the front is zipped up (which I tried when I needed to feed the baby) --- it got very hot with the front closed up. But it still offered alot of privacy, even with the front part opened up.

It folds up smaller than one of those packageable lounge chairs, very light, and I know its going to be something we use for many years.

(More customer reviews)We took this product to Florida on a recent winter vacation.It is easy to put up and take down, and easy to transport in its carry bag.And it seats two quite well, in order to keep the sun off when we were spending a lot of time on the beach.One significant problem is that it does not stand up well to more than about a ten mile per hour wind. Otherwise, it did fine.

(More customer reviews)This probably the best umbrella stand I've seen for use in the grass or dirt.

Pros:
1. The tines are very easy to anchor into even very hard turf by just stepping on the stand.
2. Great for soccer games, picnics, baseball games
3. Can be used with any umbrella.

Cons:
1. It's made of metal and a little heavy.(but it's really sturdy)
2. As another reviewer noted, it's not great for soft sand. You may have to dig a little hole first and then anchor it.
3. I wish there was a cover for the anchor points for when you carry it around. I just put a bag on the end so I don't poke anyone.

Overall it's a great umbrella stand that my family uses every weekend at the kids' games and practices.

Highly recommended!

(More customer reviews)I recently saw a couple of these shelters on a camping trip and knew I had to have one.After reading some reviews on the square footprint versions and heard they were difficult to set up,I opted for this because I typically have to accomplish this chore alone.I had this shelter up within five minutes all by myself and I'm a small person. The poles are some of the thickest and most heavy duty bungee type fiber-glass poles I've ever seen and it really pays off once the shelter is standing. It feels super sturdy. The poles account for most of the 10 pounds of total weight, but it's not to heavy to carry a good distance.One feature that I thought showed great fore-thought was that there were two sets of eyelets in the bottom strap that the pole feet hook into.This would assure a snug fit over the years as the fabric stetches,otherwise you'd wish you had some way to take up the slack.I haven't used the shelter in a high wind situation yet, but judging by the sturdiness afforded by the triangular shape... I'm sure it would do great as long as you staked it down with the six provided stakes (2 opposing stakes per foot).Plenty of room in the stuff sack elminated what's always my biggest fear, getting it all back in the bag. No problems there. I'd definitely recommend this one to anyone.

ABO Gear Pocket Shelter Review

(More customer reviews)I originally purchased the Coleman Road Trip to take on vacation to Hawaii and didn't realize how big it was until it got here.It is a great tent/shelter if you're looking for something fairly big but it was not what I was looking for. So I returned it and saw this and ordered it.I thought it would probably only last one or two uses and then I'd leave it there and be done with it.WRONG!When this arrived I put it together in about 5 minutes by myself in the living room to get familiar with it before taking it on vacation. It was exactly what I needed, small and light, good quality and easy setup. Keep in mind that my wife and I can usually set up our large camping tent by ourselves so we have experience.
I took it to Hawaii in my carry on bag, the whole thing is only around 12" long and 4" inches in diameter folded up. Once we got to the beach it was windy so I set it up with the help of my wife and it took the two of us around 5 minutes.I used the included stakes to secure it into the sand and also filled the outside pouches with sand and it never moved in a mild-moderate wind. It even provided rain shelter when it rained for 10 minutes! It is just big enough for my wife to sit/lay under along with our beach & snorkeling gear and give her shade from the sun. Not shade over her entire body, but enough to cover her head and upper torso while she was laying out. I imagine it would be great for totally covering an infant or child.
Breaking it down in the wind required a little finesse. To get the sand out of the outside pouches you first have to shovel the sand out with your hands and then turn it upside down and shake out the remainder (while it is still assembled). Don't let the wind catch it or it'll take off like a kite! Then you just reverse the assembly procedure and fold it up and it fits easily back into the storage pouch! Again about 5 minutes or so.
We used it on 7 beach outings while in Hawaii and it never gave us any trouble. For the money it's hard to beat. We will take it on all of our beach vacations from now on!
