Rio Adventure Military Style Cot Review

Rio Adventure Military Style Cot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this cot as a temporary solution while I was moving.Much more dignity then an air mattress.I slept in it for about a month before my mattress arrived. While the bed is great, I have to admit that I miss the cot from time to time.No support issues whatsoever and quite comfortable for stretched canvas. It accommodated my fairly good size frame with no problem (although company is challenging).I am planning camping trips right now so that I have an excuse to use it again.Being able to sleep on your back is very important for successful use of this cot.Sleeping on your side will cause your arm to fall asleep within 30-45 minutes.

Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 8.5-Foot by 7.5-Foot Four-Person Tent Review

Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 8.5-Foot by 7.5-Foot Four-Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Assault Outfitter is a great tent; it is made better than the standard tent, and is certainly up to 'expedition duty' quality. It is also roomy for this type of tent, with plenty of room for two large people and associated gear..and lots of gear, making this a true four-season tent.
It has been noted in another review that this is 'not a backpacking tent'; I would argue that it depends on your definition of backpacking. To me, it IS a backpacking tent. If I'm out for a week or more in rugged conditions, frankly, I want a bit more than the average ultra-light backpacking tent offers. No, you won't want to stuff this in your average weekend internal frame pack; not because you can't handle 13 lbs, but because it is bulky. However, if you're old school like me, and use a large external frame pack, like the Kelty Super Tioga, it will swallow this tent up with ease, and pack quite comfortably. Add a few quality compression straps to this, and break it down and distribute the load amongst two or three backpackers, and it becomes even more 'backpack-able'. I'll admit that I'm an old light-infantryman, used to packing sixty-eighty lbs for weeks on end, so 13 lbs of reliable and comfortable living space on my back is a non-issue. If you're an ultra-light minimalist, and want to backpack with only a fanny pack and three matches, this is not the tent for you.
I would add that if you're the type that keeps a 'bug-out rucksack' on standby, this is a great tent to have stuffed inside of it, as it is built heavily enough for serious and extended duty.
If I could only own one tent (and I own several), this would be the one that I kept.

About Eureka
Though the exact year is unknown, Eureka's long history begins prior to 1895 in Binghamton, New York, where the company still resides today. Then known as the Eureka Tent & Awning Company, its first wares were canvas products--most notably, Conestoga wagon covers and horse blankets for nineteenth century American frontiersmen--as well as American flags, store awnings, and camping tents.
The company increased production of its custom canvas products locally throughout the 1930s and during the 1940 and even fabricated and erected the IBM "tent cities" just outside Binghamton. The seven acres of tents housed thousands of IBM salesmen during the company's annual stockholders meeting, which had since outgrown its previous locale. In the 1940s, with the advent of World War II and the increased demand for hospital ward tents, Eureka expanded operations and began shipping tents worldwide. Ultimately, upon the post-war return of the GIs and the resultant housing shortage, Eureka turned its attention to the home front during the 1950s by supplying awnings for the multitude of mobile homes that were purchased.
In 1960, Eureka's new and innovative Draw-Tite tent, with its practical, free standing external frame, was used in a Himalayan Expedition to Nepal by world renowned Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person documented to summit Mt. Everest only six years earlier. In 1963, Eureka made history during its own Mt. Everest ascent, with more than 60 of its tents sheltering participants from fierce 60+ mph winds and temperatures reaching below -20

Texsport Hilo Hut Privacy Shelter Review

Texsport Hilo Hut Privacy Shelter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this Hilo Hut last fall, set it up in the garage for practice and the poles shredded overnight.I contacted Texsport to get some new poles from them and they never responded.

I also had a problem with the zipper, it was missing a tooth or two down low.I put on some duct tape to stop the zipper from going down all the way and getting jammed.

This thing deserves less than 1 star, unfortunately you cannot submit a review without a star rating. How about minus 1?

Bottom line, Amazon has a few other small privacy tents to choose from. You should try your luck with them. The price may look right on this one but be warned you'll get a low quality product, with no customer service from the manufacturer.

Product Description:
Whether you're camping in wide-open spaces or you just need a little privacy from your fellow beachgoers, this Texsport Hilo Hut privacy shelter is a must. Made of rugged polyurethane-coated taffeta, the Hilo Hut is just like a campsite dressing room, with enough space to change clothes, dry off, or just catch a moment to yourself. The shelter is sturdier than many other privacy shelters, with a pin-and-ring frame system, shock-corded fiberglass poles, and tough stakes and guy ropes that keep it rooted to the ground. And when it gets a bit too hot in the Hilo Hut, you can open the no-see-um mesh windows and vents. Other features include a large zippered D-style door for easy access, a mesh storage pocket, and a carrying bag. Flame retardant to CPAI-84 specifications, the Hilo Hut measures 4 by 4 feet and stands 84 inches tall.

Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent Review

Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I lived in this tent for the better part of three unseasonably cold and wet summer weeks in Maine.I stayed dry (for the most part) in spite of heavy rains lasting up to eight hours and one severe thunderstorm that lit up the tent's walls like a strobe light.I'll take the blame for any problems: the door was on the (slightly) uphill side, so some water dripped in through the bottom of the door zipper, but only after hours of continuous rain. During the thunderstorm, maybe a dozen drops blew in, not enough to wet the bottom of a shot glass. It was fine in the wind, but I would say that this is a three season tent.

The bug netting is fine, and for the price of one night in a motel, the tent owes me nothing.I outfitted it with boxsprings and a matress from a twin bed and a sturdy table/bench, leaving me plenty of room to stand and change clothes.

I love this tent!
